Where To Have Breakfast In La Condesa, Mexico City

By Marion Mikolajczyk

Here’s a quick overview of four restaurants in La Condesa offering Mexican breakfast like enchiladas suizas or chilaques but also waffles, eggs in all their presentations, avocado toast and açai bowls. In fact, all we love to savor for breakfast!

Azul Condesa

At the command of this temple of the traditional Mexican cuisine, the chef Ricardo Muñoz Zurita. With its white walls, its open kitchen and its indoor terrace, it is the ideal spot for a Mexican breakfast. There is no pre-established formula at Azul Condesa, we choose in the menu according to our envies of the moment. Some examples? Seasonal fruits with granola and honey, if we don’t want a spicy breakfast, enchiladas suizas or quesadillas with zucchini flower. For a spicy touch, the chilaquiles. Special mention for the hot chocolate that is a special recipe of the chef. It is prepared with water that does not reach boiling point, for the chocolate not to lose its flavor. You can order it with a taste of vanilla, ginger or hibiscus.

Ojo de Agua

In quest of a healthy and delicious breakfast? Ojo de Agua is the market/restaurant for you. The place seduces with its organic type of furniture, a little indoor market where you can buy fruit and vegetables, but also and especially for its fresh menu. Our favorites meals? If you went out the night before, the chilaquiles. If you want something lighter, the healthy classic açai bowl with a fresh juice or smoothie.

Frëims

Settled in Amsterdam street, Frëims is a convivial restaurant but also a place where to find exhibitions and events. A space of exchange with a welcoming terrace, the restaurant offers comfort food where the waffles are under the spotlight. You will find them in both sweet and salty presentations. With fruit and Nutella or replacing the bread in a meat and cheese sandwich. For the undecided, we recommend the Grand Slam which is the salty and sweet option. Waffles with bacon, two eggs, maple syrup, and red berries. To give yourself good conscience with a healthy touch, we recommend the avocado toast! Frëims is good food served in a generous portion with good coffee. You will want to come back!

Maque

A classic for breakfast, Maque is located in the heart of La Condesa. The menu has the advantage to comply with the cravings of everybody. You will find salty Mexican specialties such as enfrijoladas, molletes and the amazing chilaquiles. Don’t be surprised if you have to wait in line to get a table, for sure the delicious pastries are worth the wait. Danés, Oreja, Cuernos Dulces, Panques but especially its Concha that you cannot miss. When this sweet bun covered with sugar is served next to a hot chocolate, it is the perfect combination!
