These Are The Artists Helping Build A School in Ethiopia Through Imagine 1 Day

On June 1st, Make & Hayo have teamed up to support Imagine 1 Day and the Ride Vs. One event to help build a school in Ethiopia. Imagine 1 day is an international organization dedicated to transforming communities in Ethiopia and 100% of the money raised goes directly to school projects, with no management fees!

We are throwing an art show and fundraiser at the Make Gallery and our goal is to raise min $2000. For this, we have invited a stellar group of photographers and artists to donate limited edition photographs that will be exhibited and for sale during this one-day-only #ImagineThisDay event. The theme of the evening will be summer, vivid photographs, and lots of color. To spice things up, we’ll also have a live auction with some great items you’re not going to want to miss! All the proceeds from the evening go to Imagine 1 Day.

So here are the submissions and the 10 local and international photographers helping children in Ethiopia go back to school through Imagine 1 day. We couldn’t be happier with this cast! Do you want to own one of these prints? Join us on June 1st

We interviewed David Paris when he first released his underwater photography series. Originally from Barranquilla, Colombia, David lives now in Maui where he explores the intersection of art, photography and surf. Being already a photographer, graphic designer, a nature lover, and a surfer, it was just matter of time for David to get the right equipment to get all his passions in one: underwater photography. The talent was always there and now he has started amazing us with his focus of the ocean.

Sarah Tesla

Make’s founder Sarah Tesla is not only a creative force, she’s also a professional adventurer, travel writer, and photographer. With beautiful documentary images, she shared with us her very own experience in Ethiopia, where the cover photo of this article comes from. When she is not in Vancouver running Make, she can be found tromping through the mountains of East Africa or blasting through Argentinian roads on her motorbike.

Joanna Riquett

Hayo‘s creator Joanna Riquett is also participating in this show with two images from her –so far not public– Tiny World series. She creates these images with a reverse lens technique she learned a few years back and this is the first time she has publicly shown this work. These images have not been digitally altered and the softness of the background is a result of the technique she experiments with.

We would also like to thank our sponsors Hemlock Printers, Postmark Brewing, Framehouse Boutique & Proper Design for helping us make it possible and to Ride Vs. One for organizing the main fundraiser event. Don’t forget to RSVP to join the event!
