Unauthorized Art Installations Take Over Supermarkets & Big Stores

Artist Carson Davis Brown created a new series called Mass, a site-specific installation that uses objects found in big-box stores to create unauthorized sculptures that he then photographs and leaves behind for passersby to appreciate, if noticed, afterward. The project is about creating a visual disruption to the monotony of a store.

At an intersection between Street Art and Land Art, the installations use found materials within the retail landscape that have the same color scheme and are ultimately disassembled by the staff. Mass works are also initially exhibited in a consumer landscape. Printed, framed and exhibited in-stores all without permission.
