Tacky Tourist Souvenirs to Take Home

When on vacation, you’re posed with endless decisions to make: from which bikini to wear to what chilled beverage to opt for. As everyone knows, though, one of the biggest, most pressing matters you face when visiting somewhere new is what you should bring back! You can either go all out and buy some classy, hand-crafted, one-of-a-kind exorbitantly priced heirloom, or you can take the kitsch route, and cram your suitcase with tacky tchotchkes (which, to be honest, are a hell of a lot more fun).

What are your favourite souvenirs to buy on vacation? Any crazy collections? Let us know in the comments section!

Tacky Tourist Souvenirs To Take Home

By Hayo Magazine

When traveling, we all come across some interesting and tacky items, funny enough, a lot of people collect them

  • Cheesy souvenirs from tourist attractions

    By Hayo Magazine

Went to the Sydney Tower or some tourist temple in Bali?

  • Tourist Tote bags with the city name

    By Hayo Magazine

You see them everywhere you go, these bags let all of your friends know that you are "extra" worldly.

  • Key Chains

    By Hayo Magazine

A common tacky souvenir, key chains are one of those cheap, lightweight, and out there souvenirs that are everywhere. Nothing says "Look at me, I travel" like a silly Key Chain.

  • Maps

    By Hayo Magazine

The perfect way to remember exactly where you traveled, pick up a map (you can get one anywhere) and highlight places you've been! They are great until you put them away and forget about them.

  • Hotel Keys

    By Hayo Magazine

More often than you would think, people collect hotel swipe cards as memorabilia from past vacations. What they do with them… we don't know.

  • Magnets

    By Hayo Magazine

A very popular and simple way to have a token from your travels is picking up a unique magnet from the places you go… Unfortunately, not too many people will see how many you collect on your fridge.

  • Shot Glasses

    By Hayo Magazine

Although this is more popular for younger people to collect, shot glasses have been a big souvenir item for ages! Just try not to drink the memories away in one of your tacky shot glasses.

  • T-shirts

    By Hayo Magazine

What's worse than an ugly t-shirt? A tacky one that says I heart this city or My (friend/relative) went to (amazing destination) and all I got was this lousy t shirt. Somehow this is popular.

  • Flags

    By Hayo Magazine

What's almost as cool as visiting a lot of other countries? Having a room full of flags of the places you have been.

  • Patches and Stickers

    By Hayo Magazine

Looking for light weight souvenirs? Patches and stickers easy to get, lightweight, and cheap! Pro tip: you can sew them to your backpack!

  • Bonus: Snow globes

    By Hayo Magazine

This one is declining in popularity, probably due to it's pure ridiculousness & difficulty to pack & find. However, if you can find snow globes in every city you travel too, go ahead and collect them!
