Where To Spend A Warm Christmas Holiday in The Caribbean

As the holidays are approaching, many of us are most likely already planning where to spend Christmas and New Years. Whether it be with the entire family, a couples vacation, or heading off to an island with friends because it’s holiday season (and you can!), I’ve got many choices for you to pick from for the perfect holiday to suit your vacation needs. For a getaway that suits your needs, here are my all-time favorite recommendations of various Caribbean islands where to spend a warm Christmas holiday.

Looking for Complete Privacy and Relaxation

Barbados

If the holidays scream “Relaxing!” to you, then you might want to wander off the main islands and head down to the South-Eastern part of the Antilles. These smaller islands, such as Dominica, St. Vincent, the Grenadines, and Barbados, don’t attract as big crowds as the northern islands located closer to the USA. They are farther to reach by plane, which is a plus when looking to get away. Small resorts or private villas are easier to find to have more of the island to yourself, or wander onto a beach without half of the island there with you. Photo By: Wikipedia.

Looking for a Nightlife Island to Celebrate On

Nightlife in the Caribbean is abundant as you can party at many beach bars, beach parties, and nightclubs. Some islands are rated to have more “nightlife”, so if you’re looking for a crazier time, head to Aruba, Curacao, St. Maarten/St.Martin or Jamaica.

Aruba has plentiful nightlife at the resorts at Palm Beach – the Occidental hosts a beach party every week and it seems that all the resorts are never quiet! Curacao has been up and coming over the past years with more nightlife than Aruba in the capital city of Willemstad. Maho Village in St. Maarten is like a mini-Vegas and there are 14 casinos total on the island. Negril in Jamaica has always called out to party-goers – drinking at Rick’s Cafe and jumping off cliffs – or watching others jump! Photo: IsraelTourism.

Budget Friendly for Families or Couples

One factor that might be important to you, may be budget – how high the bill, or how inexpensive a holiday vacation can be made. Just because it’s a Christmas vacation, does not mean that all Caribbean islands come with a high price tag.

Look to Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Haiti, and the USVI for a more budget friendly time. Due to the currency being much lower in Jamaica and Haiti, opt for an All-Inclusive option that won’t break the bank or rent an apartment and bring spending money in the local currency. Puerto Rico and the USVI are both owned by the USA, therefore it is automatically less expensive to fly to these islands. All of these Caribbean islands have numerous resorts, many that include children to stay free or eat free. Even Port-au-Prince in Haiti has many children friendly resorts with activities to keep the little ones entertained. Photo: Ian Keating.

Luxurious islands if you have more to spend and money to play with

luxury beach

Previously mentioned there are some island suggestions for privacy and relaxation, but there are even more that come with total luxury and butler service if you can afford it!

St. Bart’s and Anguilla have been known to cater to more wealthy and famous crowds and they continue to do so. Renting out private homes, condos, villas, or sailing on a luxury yacht in this area and the surrounding British Virgin Islands offers top of the notch lifestyle. Turks and Caicos is quite pricey but for a reason, Grace Bay beach is one of the blue-est and most exclusive beaches out there. For infinite views of a volcanic mountain, Jade Mountain on St. Lucia offers an experience in the nature with an infinite pool.

Butler service is available if you want it! If you’re already paying for a yacht, you have all the service available to you 24/7. If you’re looking to stay on land, check with the resort beforehand, but the majority of the resorts at these islands mentioned will come to you asking if you prefer a butler during your stay.

Enjoy your Christmas holiday, wherever it may take you, and remember to enjoy yourself at any Caribbean island of your choosing.
