Thank you for your interest in contributing to Hayo! We receive a large number of submissions and pitches, and we would love to answer every email, but there are simply not enough hours a day. 😳
We welcome creative minds of all kinds that would help us make Hayo a better magazine. You don’t need to be the most experienced in your field, just have an interest in authenticity and the untold stories. Show us a story, a photo essay, an illustration, and/or art pieces that you would like the world to know about.
For Print:
Hayo print is published twice a year. Our first issue was SOUTH and our following issue is EAST. If you are willing to pitch a story for print, please subscribe to our newsletter which is where we make the call for submissions. We love new ideas, but we give priority to the writers and photographers that are already familiar with the magazine.
We invite you to grab a copy of the current issue and reference the section you are pitching for.
Editorial Calendar:
Hayo No. 3: North – Out in late 2016
Hayo No. 4: West – Out in May 2017
For Online:
We are open to pitches for our online magazine all the time. Please consider the sections we already have and pitch a story that fits our current interests.
We love new story ideas and if you’d like to publish one on Hayo, please make sure you pitch a specific story for us to consider. Make sure to reference your current experience or work, include links, and share any other relevant information about you that we can check out. At the moment, we don’t offer payment for online stories, but we compensate our writers by offering: full credit on your story or photographs, mentions on each of our social channels and newsletter, first in line when the opportunity to pitch for print opens up, and you’d become part of our global network of contributors always finding the best stories around the world.
Guidelines: 800 to 1200 words delivered in a word doc. Photos 1500 px wide delivered in Dropbox folder.
